I like stuff with romantic elements and angst, usually YA, fantasy, paranormal/urban fantasy or variations thereof. Usually wrinkles nose at sci-fi due to unlikely tech. Straight girl who likes boys that like boys!

Glitterland - Alexis Hall The cover is well naff. Why is it so bad? I am significantly less mortified by a cheesy man-titty-romance-cover in my update feed.

The MC is bipolar, has panic attacks, been hospitalised for insanity and is pretty much an ass and is (unsurprisingly) not wholly likeable - but to be fair, he is definitely not the utter asshole he thinks he is either. The romantic interest isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and has so much fake tan going on he's orange. And wears glittery stuff, eupalettes and pointy boots. And really tight jeans. And a Union Jack onesie. Which to be fair, Ash has a bit of trouble seeing past at the beginning, as it is visually quite in your face.

I shouldn't have liked this book, but I did. It was really sweet and underneath the glitter Darian is so genuinely good (and naive) I just wanted to hug him, and he makes Ash a little less.... prickly. I read the preview on Kobo because I saw it mentioned, and ended up having to finish it instead of thinking "WHATEVAHHH! like I expected to. Particularly due to the truly embarrassing cover. Did I mention how awful I find the cover? Just want that part to be clear. Don't judge the book and all that.
